NYE Ready – Hair and Makeup Edition
I haven’t been on my blog recently because of my schoolwork. It’s one of the best time of the year: Christmas & New Years Eve. Brigitte Evans is a Cosmetic Skin Care Consultant, and currently writing for High Style Life (highstylife.com). NYE Ready – Hair and Makeup Edition
Not every day is the New Year’s, nor do you get to spend a little more on your look for everyday occasions, right? After all, you’ve been working so hard throughout the whole 2017 which is precisely why this NYE celebration deserves a little luxury and pampering to jolt you back into your regular fabulousness and encourage you to start the New Year looking and feeling even better than you have in 2017! Read the lines below and join us in discussing the best hair and makeup options for your NYE celebration.
HINT: We didn’t go overboard with prices and unrealistic options.
A topknot is as chic as it gets! Hey, but it’s not just that – it’s incredibly easy to make and it definitely has that wow factor you need for the NYE. Apply gel to hair, just make sure it’s damp; comb it into a slick, high pony. Split the hair into two sections and twist them together to get a knotty effect. Then, wrap the hair into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Voila!
For all the girls who are looking to add a little metallic sparkle to their NYE outfits, dark neutrals may be the perfect makeup solution. Moody tones in a bronzey and warm palette work as the starting point of this look with a bronzer one shade deeper than the complexion. Why? To add dimension and let your face glow with dramatic undertones. Lightly contour your forehead, sides of the nose and cheeks for an even more beautiful effect. Add peachy or brownish lip gloss on the lips – and you are done!
If you are one of the bubbly ones, you’ll love adding texture to your hairdo; flirty and fun, springy spirals are phenomenal for the NYE party scene. If your hair is already curly and just needs an extra touch of effort, use a 1″ tapered curling wand to boost your bob. Fix the curls with a 5-strong hairspray to give them a boost and make them last throughout the night.
Lush lashes and peachy glow
Say goodbye to pounds of makeup for a statement look and embrace pastels for the same effect! A fresh and pretty unexpected choice in the cold winter months, pastels on your face are going to be a real surprise for everyone at the party. Amazingly thick eyelashes that help the eyes pop and soft, glowing skin will definitely work in your favor.
Movie star waves
Nothing beats old-school glam, especially on a New Year’s Eve! If there’d only been a single person in the room who could resist the charms and looks of Grace Kelly, Greta Garbo, Katharine Hepburn, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor… So, why not get an epic side movie star hairdo and be the talk of the party? In case your hair’s short, go with extensions for the special night. With the current craze about wigs and extensions, the best ones are to be found online; we always go with hair extensions online from Australia as the quality of Aussie hair has proven to be the best. Side part your luxurious extended waves and wow everyone present!
Mixed halo braids
You probably wouldn’t think of braids as your first choice for the NYE glam, but a halo braid is a romantic, fresh take on a hairdo choice for this beautiful night. Coil the braided elements around your head, and pin them as you go. To give them thickness, twist the back sections, pin again and repeat for as long as there are braids. The hairdo will look romantic, sweet and very exciting.
Not that we don’t love red lips when it comes to making a statement but why not give your outfit a surprising twist by opting for a striking pink lip? It’s fresh, it’s exciting, it’s different… and who can resist THAT?
